Joan was born on June 15, 1937 on the family farm in Ft Lupton, Colorado to John and Mildred (Bittinger) Knox. Joan graduated from Fort Lupton High and then married the love of her life, Robert “Buffalo Bob” Warner on June 19th, 1955.
Joan worked various jobs throughout her life, including Sears, in the financial department, in the 1950’s, and Storage Tech, on the assembly line, during the 1980’s. Joan was first and foremost a mother and homemaker for her family. Joan and Bob lived and worked a Ranch up the Buckhorn Canyon before moving to Longmont in 1967 to work at BJ Acres; there she cooked for hired men, cut field corn, and bailed hay to help Bob. She also was a lunchroom helper and a teacher’s aide at Erie Jr/Sr Highschool. After retirement she took care of her Mother, Mildred.
Her family called Joan a social butterfly. She was always surrounded by family and friends. Her love for life was contagious to all who knew her. Joan never met a stranger but befriended everyone she met. People in her presence naturally called her mom or grandma, and she treated them all as family. She became a “surrogate mom” for many during her life including 3 baby buffalos at the ranch. Joan’s pastime passion was sewing. Many people will lovingly remember the beautiful outfits sewed with care for family and friends. She even made adorable matching doll clothes for the girls.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband Robert “Buffalo Bob” Warner, their son Rob Warner, her Father John Knox, Mother Mildred Ingersoll, her brothers Jack Knox, Keith Knox, Jerry Knox, and sister Alberta Smith and other family members.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Warner of Longmont, Colorado, her granddaughters Debby Stonecipher of Dacono, Colorado, Noelle & Brent Cheek of Loganville, Georgia, Melissa & Arden Hasemann of Greeley, Colorado, Rebecca Warner of Berthoud, Colorado, and Samantha Warner of Loudon, New Hampshire. Great Grandkids Micah Salazar, Sydney Salazar, Tristan Rudisail, Melanie Hasemann, Jax and Colton Cheek, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
