Jerry Shelton Orrell, 82, of Longmont, Colorado passed away on December 28, 2023. He was born on January 19, 1941, to Farreld Cleo and Alice Belle Orrell in Mulhall, Oklahoma. In 1950, they moved to Colorado. After he graduated high school, he met his wife, Linda A. McNeil and they were married on April 6, 1962. After moving to Seattle, while he was in the Army, the couple had their oldest daughter, Dianna. The family of three moved back to Longmont and that is where their youngest daughter, Karla, joined the family. Jerry was a member of several service organizations, Jaycees, Columbine Lions, and Odd Fellows. In 1985, Jerry was the Elks Lodge Citizen of the Year for his work with the Columbine Lions Club and Hearing Dogs program. In Jerry’s free time, he enjoyed being in his woodworking shop making gifts for family and friends. He volunteered at Longmont Meals on Wheels doing various tasks with his wife. When they would have a chance, they would travel the U.S. visiting places they had never seen before or visiting family and enjoyed taking yearly camping trips. Both he and Linda were longtime members of Longs Peak United Methodist Church.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents; brother, Larry; and son, Jason. He is survived by his sisters, Lana Martin and Lorraine Carlson (John); daughters, Dianna Golata (Paul) and Karla Hale (Brad); grandchildren, Cody Hale (Michelle), Carly Lamb (Joe), Jordan Killmeyer (Todd), Jessie Kilbane (Aidan), Jayme Luette (Alex), and Joey Davis (Kyle); and four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Beckett, James, and Rowan.
Graveside memorial service is scheduled for 10am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Mountain View Cemetery, 620 11th Ave, Longmont, CO 80501, with a reception to follow at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave, Longmont, CO 80501. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Longmont Meals on Wheels, www.lmow.org, or Longs Peak United Methodist Church, www.lpumc.org.
