Jeff was born on May 25, 1949 in New York City, New York to Warren Hertzog and Jean Simonson Hertzog.
Jeff was a decorated war veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. There he was a pilot for Medevac helicopters and was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Upon his return he joined I.B.M., where he worked 30 years as a Service Technician and in Professional Services, retiring in 2005. He was instrumental in setting up I.B.M., personal computer networks for the Corporate Jet system. He was the initial call for top executives to have their personal computer work updated or service; including setting up home networks for these key corporate employees.
He moved to Longmont in 2005 to assist with the caring of his mother Jean, who was diagnosed with cancer.
Jeff’s outside interests centered on automobiles, especially muscle cars. His toys included a Camaro Z28, Pontiac GTO , Trans-Ams and 2 Corvettes. He loved barbeques with his brother and family and spoiling the dogs Buddie and Nuggett. He remained an ardent New York Football Giants fan, one of his happiest moments being their 2008 Super Bowl win. He was not only a great brother, but a good friend that was always there to provide support any way possible.
Preceding him death are his parents.
He will be greatly missed by his brother Steve Hertzog; sister in law Kathy (Kelley) Hertzog and adoring nieces Samantha and Jessica Hertzog.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 5 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. A cremation will follow.
