Jay Nelson

She was 96 years old. Jay was a resident of Longmont for nearly 30 years moving in retirement in 1994 from Memphis, Tennessee with her late husband Carl W Nelson Jr. In Memphis she had been a school librarian for 25 years, and her husband a staff member with Young Life which brought them to Memphis in 1963. Jay was raised in Monongahela, Pennsylvania and later graduated from Wheaton College. She was an active member of Grace Church in Longmont. She leaves two daughters, one son, and two grandchildren. Jay was an avid, life-long reader and great lover of books. She loved knitting, classical music, swimming and Shetland Sheepdogs. She was a good friend to many, and always had a big smile. She was a generous supporter of many Christian organizations. Above all was her life-long commitment to Jesus Christ.

A memorial service for Jay will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Grace Church, 2415 Lake Park Drive, Longmont, CO 80503. She is to be interred at Fort Logan Cemetery beside her husband, Carl.
