Jimmy was born at the family home in Allenspark, CO on October 17, 1941 to Rudolph “Rudy” Romero and Louise Bustamante. Rudy and Louise were married November 28, 1940. They moved to Longmont with Jimmy and his younger sister, Emily, shortly after Emily was born. The Romero Family would go on to make their home in Longmont, seeing all six of their children grow up here.
Jimmy held many different positions of employment throughout his life, retiring from Exobyte as an Electronic Technician. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont and belonged to the local American Legion, as well. Jimmy was an avid fisherman and he loved hunting. He enjoyed solving puzzles, reading, occasionally playing a little poker and some light gambling. Jimmy absolutely loved the Denver Broncos.
More than anything else in the world, Jimmy loved his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a wonderful, loving and caring man. Jimmy never ended a conversation or left a room without an “I love you” or a “God bless you”. These small gestures demonstrated how much he cared for all the people in his life. Jimmy’s family will miss him ever so much.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Louise. He leaves behind an incredible legacy and is survived by his brothers, Gary Romero and Ronnie (Teri) Romero; sisters, Emily Herrera, Ruthie (Leroy) Gutierrez, and Judy Fernandez; his son Aaron Rael; daughters, Veronica Lucio, Monica Ortiz, and Johnna (Emilio) Reyna; grandchildren, Patrick (Melissa) Cordova, Krystal (Rudy) Arvizu, James M. Romero, Desiree (Jeff) Botkin, Janessa (Joe) Carley, Felipe Alaniz, Lorenzo Rael, Alex Rael, Ladina Rael, Romeo Rael, and Vanitee Rael; great-grandchildren, Seth Arvizu, Sy Dominguez, Bradly Thomas, Monica Arvizu, Mercedes Foster, Yesenia Martinez, Iesha Cordova, Sativa Cordova, Mathias Romero, Ozias Cordova, Aaron Levin, Jovanni Carley, Jose Carley, Theodore Botkin, Jade Rael, and Julianna Carley; and finally by his great-great-grandchildren, Benjamin and his baby sister, Kori Dominguez, Emma Dominguez, and Nova Sarco.
