On Sunday, August 14, 2022, Jackie Walker, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
Jackie was born August 15, 1928, in Simla, Nebraska to Vic and Sylvia Knox. Jackie and her family moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1937, where she lived for 85 years until her death.
Jackie attended Longmont High School, graduating in 1946. She was involved in high school activities and was a “DeMolay Sweater Girl” in 1945. After graduation, Jackie worked at the Longmont Times Call in the editing department.
She met her husband, Reed Walker, in 1949. They were married in 1950 and raised three daughters. Always deeply connected to Longmont, Jackie and Reed were involved in many business ventures and community service.
Jackie enjoyed working for Dr. Chris Amoroso for many years, then she became a top-producer real estate agent at Longmont Realty in the late 1970s. Later, she went into insurance and proudly served her many clients during her career with Volk and Associates. Jackie was an avid reader and a loyal Broncos fan, looking forward to the new season every year. She was passionate about Longmont history, always able to share the significance and experiences of every neighborhood in the town she loved.
