Hilda was born in Paris, Arkansas on March 4, 1938. When she was five years old, her family moved to California, where she spent the remainder of her youth. Hilda attended Whittier High School in Whittier, California through grade 10, then night classes at Norwalk High School in Norwalk, California to complete her GED.
On August 25, 1954, Hilda married the love of her life, Ireon E. Pentico in Bellflower, California. Hilda and Ireon raised their two sons in California. They relocated from Mira Loma in Riverside County, California to Milliken, Colorado in 1999. Hilda stayed home to take care of her family. Once the boys were grown, she went to work as an office clerk, copy operator and assistant supervisor at Bechtel Power Corporation, positions that she held over 10 years. She also worked for a year as a clerk for Best, Best & Krieger Attorneys and one and a half years as assistant to the Milliken Senior Center Coordinator.
Hilda enjoyed every craft there was. She lived a life of service to others and was passionate about volunteering in her community. She volunteered many hours as a member of the Milliken Senior Center since 1999 and was a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program member. Hilda was a member and leader of the Milliken Senior Band, which entertained at many local assisted living facilities, as well as other senior centers. She was also a member of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club of Greeley, Colorado, which also entertained at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior housing communities, and numerous parades. Hilda served as secretary and treasurer for the Milliken Senior Center Advisory Board and secretary of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Advisory Board. In 2005, Hilda became a Hall of Fame Inductee, in Honor of Invaluable Volunteer Service to Seniors given by the Greeley/Weld Senior Foundation, Inc.
Hilda’s was a life that blessed so many. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
Hilda leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her loving husband of more than 68 years, Ireon E. Pentico of Milliken; sons, Bobby G. Pentico (wife Shannon) of Wilsonville, Oregon, Terry L. Pentico of Longmont, Colorado; grandsons, Ryan Haney (wife Anne) of California and Danny Pentico of Longmont; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Olive Haney of California.
A Memorial Service will be held for Hilda on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. Hilda will be laid to eternal rest in a Committal Service at 2:00 PM at Foothills Gardens of Memory, 14241 N. 107th Street, Longmont, Colorado 80504.
