Hermann Kleiner, 86, of Longmont, passed December 27, 2020 at his home. Hermann was born February 7, 1934 in Stuttgart, Germany the son of Frieda (Roesch) and Eugen Kleiner. As a young man he emigrated to the U.S. leaving his family behind. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Suellen Fleck. They married on May 3, 1958 in Ohio. Hermann was drafted into the U.S. Army and the couple moved to Kentucky to start their new life.
Hermann came to the U.S. as a tool and die apprentice. He later worked in aerospace engineering with Ball Aerospace, and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1983.
Hermann, with his wife Suellen helped to establish the Longmont Citizen Volunteer Patrol (CVP) and remained an active participant. He was also a member of American Legion Post 32, a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and worked with Boy Scout Troop 166. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, volunteering and attending the activities of his grandchildren. He had a passion for learning as well as German radio programs and polka dancing.
Preceding Hermann in death are his parents and his dearly beloved wife Suellen.
Surviving are his son Eugen (Becky) Kleiner of Loveland, CO; his daughters Heidi (Bud) Mohney of Wichita, KS and Lisa (John) O’Donnell of Lake Wylie, SC. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Russell, Andrew, David, Michael, Binford, Ami, Emmerich and great grandson Preston and his brother Eberhard Kleiner and sister Ursula Kleiner, both of Germany.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. He will rest in eternity with his wife Suellen in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
