Helen C. Nelson

Helen C. Nelson, 100, died peacefully at her home in Longmont on August 3, 2018. She was born March 22, 1918 in Longmont to Oscar and Alida (Anderson ) Johnson, Swedish descendants who farmed south of Longmont.Helen graduated from Longmont High School in 1935; she attended CSU for two years and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She married Milton Nelson on December 27, 1940 in Longmont. Helen was a life member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school and active in her church guild. She was also a member of Sunset Ladies Golf - 18 Hole Charter Member, a 36 year volunteer as a Pink Lady at Longmont United Hospital, a member of Sunshine Club and 50 year member of PEO Chapter DI.She was preceded in death by her husband Milton, her son Thomas M. Nelson, sisters; Irene Bohn and Doris Dawson a brother Vernon O. Johnson.Helen is survived by her daughters: Virginia Shaw (Michael) and Martha Williams (Leslie); grandchildren Jeffrey Shaw (Ginger), Gregory Shaw (Bitsy), Kristin White (John), and Todd Williams (Heather); and great grandchildren Ethan, Hagen and Mason Williams as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday Aug 17, 2018 At First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Private interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
