Hazel Hardin Perez, age 98 of Longmont died July 4, 2013 at the home she shared with her daughter Kathy and grandson Dominic. At the time of her death Hazel had her daughter Kathy and her friend Janell at her side. Hazel was born July 4, 1915 in Seattle, Texas to James and Melissa (Stovall) Hardin. Hazel graduated from high school and attended two years of college. Hazel married Raymond Perez on December 6, 1939 in New Braunfels, Texas. They moved to Colorado in November of 1944. Raymond died on November 4, 1973. During her working life she was lucky to have three different vocations that she enjoyed. She was a beautician, a finance clerk at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver and perhaps the most rewarding experience of her life was serving as a faith missionary in Mexico City with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Hazel's hobbies included sewing, where she made quilts for her children; water colors and baking. Her specialty was apple pie. She loved playing with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Peter Raymond Perez and his wife Diane of Denver, CO; two daughters, Rose Oatis and her husband Mark of Henderson, NV and Kathryn Perez-Chavez of Longmont. Hazel is also survived by her grandchildren, Raina Steinley, Benito Chavez-Perez, Dominic Chavez, Peter Tiger, Raymond Reyna Alex and Sean Maxwell and Darcy Stanton. Great-grandchildren Brandon Steinley, Mason Steinley, Meredes Chavez, Julian Tiger, Manny Reyna, Ellie Stanton, Allan Stanton and Callum Maxwell also survive. Hazel was proceeded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
