Gil was born on February 5, 1942 in Denver, Colorado, to Ralph & Marion “Bobby” Evans. He leaves behind his loving wife, Diana, his children, Gilbert (Gail) Evans, Kathi (Chuck) Urban, Phillip Evans, Barbara Satre and Roger Satre. His daughter, Ginger Evans, predeceased him. Gilbert also left behind 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a niece and nephew, who all loved him very much. Gilbert’s brother, Robert, (Jane) also predeceased him.
Gil’s family migrated to Colorado in the 1860s by covered wagon. His great great grandfather, Louis Reno, founded the city of Arvada, Colorado in 1870, with his associate, Benjamin Wadsworth. Gil spent much of his childhood living in the mountains. His parents owned a restaurant and hotel in Dillon, CO, where he acquired his love of the outdoors and the mountains. He passed on that love to his children.
Gilbert spent his career as an elevator mechanic, and later, as an elevator inspector. He made many friends during his career. His friends, Louie and Nancy Clemons, were very special to him and a huge help during his health struggles. Gil especially enjoyed sharing his love of shooting with his family and Louie.
Gil was known and loved for his sense of humor, his mischievous personality, his love for the outdoors, and his love for his family. He brought fun, laughter and love to every gathering. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held at the Arvada Cemetery on July 12th, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
