He was born June 20, 1938, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to William V. and Gladys Dancy where he grew up with his sister Carolyn.
He served in the United States Navy as a dental assistant in Key West, Florida. He earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University.
In late May of 1967 he moved to Boulder, Colorado.
He started his career as a recruiter for Ball Aerospace on June 7, 1967.
Jerry is remembered as being a great friend and work associate. He was friendly, outgoing and generous. He was a great recruiter and HR manager. He had a good sense of humor. He retired from Ball Aerospace in December 1998.
In his spare time, he was an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and participate in competitive shooting. He also had a special place in his heart for his loyal dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carolyn and his brother-in-law Keith Chapman and his nephews Brad and Keith Chapman.
He is survived by his nephew David Chapman. He is further survived by all those who came to know and love him.
Gerald will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at staging area C.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary of Longmont, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the Boulder Humane Society.
