Genevieve “Janice” Herrera was born on April 8, 1945 in Denver, Colorado to Manuel and Roseana Herrera. Janice was raised in Longmont, Colorado where she met her first husband, James Romero. She had two daughters with James, Veronica and Monica. Later, Jan went on to marry John Padia who she had her youngest daughter, Johnna, with. Janice made a living by doing several different jobs including housekeeping, dry cleaning and electronic assembly. Janice enjoyed playing bingo, card games, casino slots, but most of all spending time with her family.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Roseana Herrera, her siblings Anjelica, Al, Viola, Benny, Mela, Ray, Ernestine, Marcy, Jimmy and Manuel, and her son at heart, Victor. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Herrera, her three daughters Veronica Lucio, Monica Ortiz and Johnna (Emilio) Reyna, eight grandchildren, Patrick, Krystal (Rudy), James (Brittany), Desiree (Jeff), Felipe, Lorenzo, Alex and Ladina, twelve great grandchildren Sy, Bradly, Mercedes, Yesenia, Iesha, Sativa, Mathias, Ozias, Aaron, Theo, Jade and Amyah, seven great-great grandchildren Benjamin, Macey, Corey, Emily, Isabella, Violette, August, and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a family we would like the world to remember Janice was the matriarch of our family. Janice played a huge role raising her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always made sure to have fresh tortillas, fried potatoes and beans for whichever grandchild she had after school each day. Most importantly, Janice was sure that her family knew God, that they were loved and each one of them was important. We love you Gram, may you rest in peace.
