Beth was born on April 19,1935 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from
Cleveland Heights High School in 1953 after enjoying membership in the
National Honor Society, Swim Cadets and the Water Polo Varsity Team.
Highlighting her high school years was membership in the choir which was
chosen by UNESCO to represent the United States at the International Music
Festival in Brussels, Belgium during the summer of 1953.
The choir performed for music lovers in 10 countries - frequently staying in
private homes. Beth remembered the concert at Normandy as being one of the
most moving of her entire life.
After spending the summer of ’53 touring and singing across Europe, beginning
college at Ohio Wesleyan University was almost a let down. After Beth joined
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, college became more interesting. After four years
of campus life Beth graduated with a BS degree, having majored in English and
Secondary Education.
Beth met Tom Huffman in June of 1957 and they married in December. She
taught English at Euclid High School until retiring to begin raising a family.
Beth and Tom’s life together was full of love and laughter. They moved from
Cleveland to Longmont, Colorado in 1972 and quickly grew to adore the
western lifestyle.
Beth was an avid volunteer and supported many non-profits. She and Tom
raised four sons:
Pete (Cyndi)
Dan
Tony
Mike (Julie)
Those wishing to remember Beth may want to do so with a gift to the Longmont
Symphony Orchestra, the Humane Society of Longmont, the Longmont
Coalition for Women in Crisis, A Woman’s Work, or their favorite charity.
A celebration of life for both Beth and Tom Huffman will be held at a later date.
