Eleanor Ruth King

Eleanor was born on August 28, 1927 in Marion, KS to Ed and Anna (Malmstom) Childs. She graduated from Marion High in 1944. She married Donald Lee King in Harrington, KS; together they moved to Colorado in 1958.

Eleanor worked as a school secretary until her retirement in 2001. She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Beech Wives Club. She was very proud of raising her five boys. In her free time she enjoyed being with her family, going to basketball games with the grandchildren, playing bingo and scrabble with her grandkids, doing crossword puzzles and playing word cookies.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Donald; two sons Ron King and Wayne King; her parents; her brothers Edson and Joe and her sisters Mildred, Helen, Pauline and Freda.

Eleanor is survived by her sons David (Melody) King of Grand Junction, CO, Alan (Mimi) King of Grand Junction, CO and Gary (Addy) King of Black Hawk, CO; her grandchildren Mandy (Joe Dinkel) King of Grand Junction, CO, Travis (Sarah) King of Kansas City, MO, Emily King of Grand Junction, CO, Jessica King of Texas, Jonathon (Jessica) King of Vermont, Stephen King of Black Hawk, CO and Kristine Barr of Black Hawk, CO; her great-grandchildren Kate-Lynn (CJ) Hess of Lawrence, KS, Kyndell (Austin) Hayes of Kansas City, MO, Sierra (Chad) Seader of Sharon Springs, KS, Dallas (Tori Haug) Seader of Chadron, NE, Jack King of Kansas City, MO and Cody Seader of Sharon Springs, KS; and her great-great-grandchildren Jaxston and Wayne Boldt of Sharon Springs, KS, Beau Hayes of Kansas, City, MO and expecting three on the way.

Graveside services for Eleanor will be held at 1:00pm on Monday June 17, 2024 at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction, CO.
