

Dorothy Dottie E. Hensley, 76, of Longmont passed away May 18, 2016 at the TRU Hospice Care Center in Louisville, CO.She was born February 21, 1940 in Louisville, CO to Arlo A. and Daisy S. (Johnson) Wilson. Dottie graduated from Louisville High School in 1958 and attended the University of Oregon.On June 27, 1958 in Louisville she married Arthur Hensley. After Art's discharge from the Army in 1962 they returned to Colorado living for a short time in Louisville before moving to Longmont.Dottie was a carrier, clerk and clerk foreman for the US Postal Service, beginning in Louisville and then transferring to the High Mar branch in Boulder. Following her years at the Post Office she worked many jobs, her last working with disabled adults.She was a member of the National Rifle Association, Womans Rifle club, and she was a State champion sharp shooter. Dottie served on the Executive Board of Directors for Colorado Legal.Dottie had wide and varied interests and hobbies. She liked to play bingo and gamble. One time in Culver City, CA she won 4 bingo blackouts in a row, and was almost asked to leave the Bingo hall. Another time she walked up to a slot machine that another woman had been playing for hours without a win, Dottie put in a quarter and won the big pot. She was very proud of having once taken a car on a test drive to Las Vegas and she had called in sick to work from 5 different states. Dottie and her son Matt once appeared on The Price is Right and on a trip to NY with her daughters, seeing the play Kinky Boots, she was singled out to meet the entire cast.Most important Dottie was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her family at their cabin at Red Feather Lakes.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Art on May 5, 2010 and five siblings Ralph, Margie, Nadine, Sonja and Sandra.Dottie is survived by four children Brenda West (J ), Jerry Hensley (Mary Melick), Matt Hensley (Lisa) and Benita Hensley, seven grandchildren Stephanie, Sean, Tiffany (Adam), Dylan, Haley, Doug and Brady, six great grandchildren Izaac, Izaiah, Anna, Jade, Marissa and Ariel; adopted son Maudi (Wishall) and their children Asma, Abier, Mohamed, Abdairhman, Mustafa, Ola and Yusuf and three sisters Enid, Cheryl and Janice.Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 3:00pm Thursday, May 26 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow the funeral at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Inurnment will be at 10:00am Friday, May 27 at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Friends will gather at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel at 9:30am for a procession to the cemetery.
