DONALD GORDON REDMAN passed away peacefully at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on September 15, 2009. Don was born May 8, 1918 near Oberlin, Kansas to Myron and Alice (Raymond) Redman. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1937 and from Colorado State University in 1942. He was a lifelong CSU booster. Don married Margaret Hoge, also from Longmont, in 1946 after returning from Army active duty. Don was a decorated WWII veteran serving in the North African and Italian campaigns. He left the Army with the rank of Captain.Don enjoyed his work. He started out as a field man for the Great Western Sugar Company after the war and rose to the position of district agricultural manager by the time he retired. He was an active member of every community he and Margaret lived in. They called Crook, CO, Ft. Morgan, CO, Littleton, CO, Eaton, CO, Goodland, KS, Scottsbluff, NE, Greeley CO and Longmont, CO home. Agriculture was his passion: he had an enormous respect for farmers. He was a gifted gardener.He is survived by his son Dr. Robert Redman and his wife Nancy of Brighton, CO, daughter Donna Loyd and her husband Dan of Grover, CO, son Dr. D. Scott Redman and his wife Robin of Spokane, WA and son Douglas Redman and his wife Nanette of Grand Island, NE, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, brother Raymond, sister Velda Cox and grandson Tyler Redman.Don was a gentle, kind man, with high personal integrity who will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St. Longmont, CO. Burial will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.The family requests that donation be given in Don's name to Colorado State University,Ft. Collins, CO 80523.
