Donald E. Bunnell

Donald E Bunnell, 89, of Longmont, passed away August 24, 2022. He was born December 9, 1932 in Muncie, Indiana. He was born to the late Leslie Clark Bunnell and Lila (Overright) Bunnell. He graduated from Kankakee High School and attended the University of Illinois. He married Beverly Bartolini. His career as a Systems Engineer spanned 35 years, working for IBM before retiring in 1991. Donald served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy.

Donald’s earliest ambition was to make money! He lived his life with integrity, hard work, determination, ethics and honesty. He enjoyed laughing while reminiscing at family gatherings. His proudest family moments were his children and grandchildren, and also building his home in Berthoud. (Rancho Allegra) He enjoyed beekeeping, hiking, photography, skiing, 4-wheeling, firearms, playing craps/gambling and traveling. When asked what he loved the most, he answered “My wife”! Donald will be remembered as a great husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, of Longmont, four daughters; Donna Jean Bunnell-Lehr and husband Dennis, of Longmont, Mary Kay Bunnell-Shockley and husband Raul of Westcliffe, Jill Ann Bunnell of Longmont, and Rebecca Lynn Bunnell-Hoxeng and husband Bob, Six grandchildren; Donald Raymond Lehr, Emily Victoria Carder, Lawrence Michael Bower, Amanda Lynn Bower, Hannah Louise Raymond, and Luisa Nicole Garcia, and seven great-grandchildren; Dominick, Anthony, Dylan, Megan, Skylar, Kaylee and Lila.

A funeral service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10 AM at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St in Longmont, Officiated by Cris Crisfield. Burial will follow in the Johnstown Cemetery in Johnstown, CO. Pallbearers will be Dennis Lehr, Donnie Lehr, Nathan Carder, Dylan Carder, Raul Shockley, and Luis Garcia.
