Debbie Lee Barry went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 12, 2018. She was born on September 12, 1955, in Ashland, Massachusetts, the adopted daughter of Russell and Fathe Smith. Debbie graduated from Ashland High School in June of 1973. She went to Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, graduating with a degree in Communications.
Debbie enlisted in the United States Army in April 1980 and served her country for four years. She was a communications specialist in Advanced Korean Languages and served near the Korean DMZ translating intercepted messages from North Korea. She was awarded an M16 Sharpshooter medal and a marksman award in hand grenades. They made a special hat for her as her head was small, but her heart and courage were large.
Debbie had two children: Krystal and Todd. She married Mack Long on November 21, 2015. She and Mack had a short time together, but an enduring bond of love was forged, in part because of their love of the Lord and love of praise and worship music. Debbie loved to sing and Mack accompanied her on the piano.
Debbie had a passion for caring for people, working in home health care among other caring professions. Most recently she worked with a very caring company, Wiland Associates. She and Mack were so grateful for their support in recent months.
Debbie is survived by her husband Mack, daughter Krystal and son Todd, granddaughter Kaley, and brother Dennis. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers David and Dana.
A service of praise and worship and celebration of Debbie’s life will take place on Sunday, October 28th, at 3pm at Rocky Mountain Christian Church in Niwot. Debbie’s family will receive guests at a viewing at the church from 1 to 2:30.
