Dale Van Cleave was born July 27th 1925 in Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of John and Oce (Randles) Van Cleave. He joined his only sibling, Karleen. He attended the red brick neighborhood school and graduated from high school in 1943.
He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and after training, served as 1st Lieutenant in the 344th bomb wing in Europe.
When back home after the war, he met Jane Sherman. After they were married, he reentered the Air Force and was stationed in Freisen, Germany. Jane was able to join him there for several months.
Dale retired from the FAA as an air traffic controller. He and Jane lived in Longmont; purchasing their new home in 1962 and maintaining it well until May of 2021 when they moved to assisted living.
Dale passed away peacefully October 4th at the age of 97. Jane preceded him in death January 22nd of this year.
