Cynthia Davis Schumacher, born to Franklin Yancey and Amanda Alderson on April 26, 1953, in Danville, VA, peacefully passed away on January 16, 2024, in Colorado, where she and her husband resided since 2006. Cynthia was a warm, loving, caring and adventurous woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures, such as relaxing on the beaches of Destin, FL with a good book. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, skiing, cooking, horseback riding, and playing card games. And she especially cherished those special moments spent with her sweet grandchildren.
Cynthia’s mother remarried in 1964 to John Alvis Davis, a decorated Marine who served in WWII and Korea. John formally adopted Cynthia in 1966 and helped raise her as only a truly loving father could.
Cynthia graduated in 1971 from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, VA and later pursued her passion for healthcare, earning her nursing degree from Albany Junior College in 1977. Cynthia was deeply dedicated to her career, embarking on various roles such as a flight attendant, as a nurse specializing in dialysis care, and spending the final years of her career at Anthem, Inc. as a Clinical Training Specialist.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James A. Schumacher, and she leaves behind an enduring legacy of love and family: her sons, Philippe Petit and Christopher Petit, their respective wives, Stefanie and April, and her cherished grandchildren—Lucas, Sofia, Riley, Colin, and Carter. All carry forth her generous spirit and the precious memories they have shared.
At present, the family has not made plans regarding a Gathering or Celebration of Life for friends and family. Cynthia will be placed at rest in our family plot in Broomall, PA at a time yet to be determined. When a decision is finally made, we will post our plans on this website.
In lieu of sending flowers and/or contributions, the family kindly requests that you instead share a meal with your loved ones. Make a toast to Cindy. Celebrate her life. Embrace the warmth of loving family and revel in the joy found in life’s simple and sweet moments, just as she did. May this gesture honor her memory and hold tight to the love she so willingly spread throughout her lifetime.
