Chris was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 18, 1971, to Bruce and Sandra (Berryhill) Lawrence. He attended elementary school in Morris Illinois and graduated from high school in Augusta Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Colorado School of Mines in 1993 and worked in chemical production and software development for 10 years. After this, he changed professions, becoming a fitness instructor, where he had his own business for almost 10 years.
Chris was always active. He swam competitively through college; he practiced Taekwondo, achieving his 3rd degree black belt; and more recently spent much of his free time hiking and summiting the many Colorado mountains. In addition to being active in these sports himself, Chris led others in these same pursuits. He coached swim teams in Augusta Georgia and Cincinnati Ohio, he was a volunteer instructor of Taekwondo and he was a volunteer ranger for the Boulder County Parks and Open Space program where he patrolled open space areas and helped train search dogs.
In addition to his many active pursuits, Chris had a love of music, regularly attending concerts across a wide range of genres. Chris also had a great sense of humor that he freely shared with everyone. Chris was forever supporting and encouraging those around him, whether in a swimming pool, on the exercise mat or reaching the top of the mountain.
Chris is survived by Kathy, his wife of over 25 years, children Aaron and Beck, all of Longmont; his mother Sandra Lawrence, his brother Rob Lawrence and his grandmother Lorraine Miller, all of Augusta Georgia.
Chris was preceded in death by his father Bruce Lawrence, his grandparents Rollin and Mary Lawrence and his grandfather Bruce Berryhill.
A private memorial service will be held on June 27, 2020 at Howe Mortuary. Donations can be made in memory of Chris to the Boulder County Parks & Open Space Foundation, the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative or the Indian Peaks Wilderness Alliance.
