Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, died in Longmont United Hospital, Colorado, at age 51, after a brief illness.
Survived by Jackie, wife of 25 years, and son Theodor Francke of Longmont; father Warren and stepmother Carol Francke of Omaha, NE.; sister Cara Loriz, Shelter Island, N.Y., and mother-in-law Lorena Lynch of Kirtland, N.M.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by mother, Susan Nell Francke.
Graduate of Omaha Central High School where he was a National Merit Scholar; B.S. and M.S. from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in geological and mining engineering. Geotechnical engineer on Waste Isolation Pilot Project near Carlsbad, N.M. preparing site for radioactive waste storage; longtime employee of Rocksol Consulting Group in Boulder and Denver. Frequent contributor to FARK website.
Enjoyed Denver pro teams, Nebraska football, and cheering son Theodor’s baseball and basketball teams.
