Christie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Bruce Shaver; children, Scott Shaver, Stacey Tinch, Melissa France; grandchildren, Miles France, Madyson Tinch, Sophia France; siblings, Sally Hale, Dianne Reese; and numerous other family members and friends.
Christie was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Mary Lou Korn; sibling, David Cohagen; and infant son Douglas Shaver.
Christie was born in Zanesville, OH on March 10, 1947 and lived the past 25 years in Longmont, Colorado, which she loved and believed was the best place in the world to live. She was a member of Heart of Longmont Church.
Anyone who knew Christie was touched by her kindness, humor, compassion, and strength. She attended The Ohio State University and remained a loyal and passionate Buckeye fan her whole life. Christie graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a degree in Business Administration and worked as an Accounting and Business Manager for most of her career. In 2013, she retired from Atria Assisted Living in Longmont, CO, where she enjoyed her job, the residents, and their families.
After her retirement, Christie loved traveling with her husband and taking care of her family. She was a talented seamstress, an avid baker, a fierce card player, and there was never a puzzle she couldn’t solve. Christie loved Christmas and passed that love for the holidays, life and family to her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
The family is deeply saddened by her sudden death. Christie will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched.
There was a Celebration of Life Open House Gathering on Thursday February 23, 2023 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO. Calling hours were held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Farus Funeral Home in Duncan Falls, OH. A funeral service was held in Christie’s honor on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Farus Funeral Home.
Christie was passionate about animals and loved her boxers, of which she had many over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Longmont Humane Society (https://www.longmonthumane.org).
