Charles Edward Copeland, 91, of Longmont, CO passed away March 7, 2015 at Life Care Center of Longmont. Charles was born on May 12, 1923 in Jacksonville, FL to Thomas Charles and Nora Hattie (Musgrove) Copeland where he grew up on the family farm with 12 siblings.Charles graduated from high school in Jacksonville and Cum Laude from the College of Idaho with a Masters Degree in School Administration. Charles served for 16 years in both the Air Force and Navy during WWII.Charles married Violet Erma Taylor in 1942 in Ontario, OR, she passed away in 1971 after 29 years of marriage. Charles married Nancy Lee B kenoogen in 1972 in Grants Pass, OR. He and Nancy moved to Longmont from Rogue River, OR in 1985.Charles was a construction consultant and contract administrator on military bases in many parts of world after completing his career as a teacher, principal and school superintendent. Charles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an Ordinance Worker at the Denver LDS Temple for many years. He was a soloist for the church choir and a church priesthood leader. He loved his temple work, scriptures, helping others and refereeing his church's basketball games for many years.Charles enjoyed horseback trail riding, fishing, boating, sailing and all types of sports. He also served as a camp director for the Boy Scouts of America and taught drivers education. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Violet and his son Gregory.Charles is survived by his wife Nancy, sons: Robert C., Gerald P., Daniel L. and Byron V. Copeland, daughter Randa Sue Copeland, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.A special thank you to Life Care Center and staff who took such loving care of Chuck during the last days of his life.A private graveside service will be held in May at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
