Carol Suzanne Schmidt

Carol was born in River Rogue, Michigan on August 8, 1936; the second of seven children born to Virginia Jean (Senker) and J.T. Grant Vaden in Michigan. She graduated high school in Hinsdale, Illinois and became a Registered Nurse. Carrol was not one to shy away from hard work and she advanced through the ranks to become Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Avista Hospital. Carol retired in 2000.

On August 18, 1957, Carrol married the love of her life, Ronald Schmidt. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years together before Ron passed away on January 1, 2022. Carol and Ron were blessed with three beautiful children, two daughters, Karen and Linda, and a son, Ron Jr. The family relocated from Evergreen, Colorado to Longmont in 1980.

Carol was always a kindhearted woman who put her family first. She always took exceptional care of everyone around her. She never knew a stranger and always made everyone feel welcome. She loved her family dearly. Carol was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, and a doting grandmother. Carol was loved and she will be missed.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Ronald Lee Schmidt, Sr., their son Ronald Lee Schmidt Jr. and their grandson, Steven Corcilius; her parents J.T. and Virginia Senker, brother John Vaden, and by her sister Janene Alexander. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her daughters Karen Author and Linda Martin; grandchildren Gena Chymych, Ben Martin, Aiyanna Schmidt, and Maiya Schmidt; great grandchildren Angelica, Trysta, Bella, Ily, Aonica, Synphonie, Addie, Noble, Lynleigh and Maggie; brother Henry Vaden; and by her sisters June Stevenson, Bonnie Fuller, and Susan Meseraull.

Carol was loved by many and a service to celebrate her life will be held at a future date to be announced later.
