Brenton Joseph Honstein, 52, of Longmont, CO passed away on November 30th, 2023 after a 4-year battle with cancer. Brent was born January 31st, 1971. As a child, Brent loved animals, especially horses, dogs, cats, snakes, rabbits, racoons, & deer. His love of animals led him to sketching them with quite a lot of skill later in life. He also showed a talent for building things at a young age.
In 1981, Brent was one of the first kids featured on Colorado’s Wednesday’s Child program for older, adoptable kids. Lyle & Dianne Honstein saw the program & knew he belonged in the family, along with siblings Mark, Jill & Elaine. Brent was officially adopted on March 31st, 1982 & brought his gifts of music, art, electronics, mischief, fun & a heart of gold to the family. As a youth he loved being in Boy Scouts, band, shop class, & family camping trips.
He was funny, artistic, caring, loyal, & a craftsman at many things. He enjoyed giving his wonderful art to friends & family, & took pride in his work. Brent encountered hardships in life, but he kept on fighting to overcome them. He dabbled in tattooing, was a skilled finish carpenter & later on was a collector of vintage toys. Downtown Longmont served as the center of Brent’s social life where he had many friends who will miss him greatly.
