Bobby D. Mcafee

Bobby (Bob) Dale McAfee passed away September 4th, 2009 at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, Louisville with family surrounding him. Bob was born in Erie, Colorado July 8, 1927 to Keith and Lena (Beltz) McAfee. He moved to Longmont in 1940 and graduated from LHS in 1945. Bob was active in all sports as well boys Glee Club and enjoyed the many reunions since. Many remember him as the 1st baseman for softball teams in the 40's and 50's. Bob loved sports and spent many hours on the golf course. He also loved his family and especially the grandkids, following their sports activities. The Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies were favorites.Bob served in the US Navy during World War II and Korea. He graduated from UNC with both his BA and Master's Degree. He was involved in education for 31 years, retiring in 1987 when they moved back to Longmont. He belonged to Lifebridge Christian Church and served as an elder, lead many Home Bible Studies, and began the Saints Alive Choir. His church meant much to him and he was always ready to help wherever he was needed. Bob married Emma Jeanne Conover and they enjoyed 62 years together. He was preceded in death by son Michael Patrick, his parents, two stepbrothers and a stepsister. Surviving are his wife Emma Jeanne; two daughters, Pamela Keller of Arvada, Maureen (Rick) Stewart of Sandy, Utah; six grandchildren, Zach (Whitney) Stewart of Wadsworth Ohio, Andrew Stewart of Cincinnati Ohio, Kelly Stewart of Anderson Indiana, Nikki Keller of Boulder, Jessi Keller of Denver, TJ Keller of Arvada; sister in law Gladys (Al) Wilhite of Longmont and two aunts, Dorothy Beltz and Roleda Torley of Lakewood.A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Lifebridge Christian Church with David Bradshaw officiating.
