Barbara Christine Dorth, 68, passed away October 21, 2017 at Applewood Living Center, Longmont, Colorado. She was born March 17, 1949, Leoben, Austria to Philipp and Christine (Mueller) Dorth. In 1952 her family immigrated to the United States, where they lived in Chicago, Illinois. Barbara returned to Austria in 1962 to complete her education. There she worked as a first grade teacher, when she was seriously injured in an auto accident in 1968, resulting in her becoming disabled. Following 6 months in a rehabilitation hospital in Vienna, Barbara and her mother returned home to Chicago, where she lived with her parents. The family moved to Longmont in 1975. Barbara was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church, where she participated in Rebecca Guild and Senior Adults. She attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years. She shared her faith openly and enthusiastically at every opportunity, and she was a loving friend to everyone she met. Barbara was artistic, and she loved to sing hymns. Spending time with her family brought her much happiness. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her infant brother, Dieter. She is survived by her brother, Manfred (Nancy) Dorth, and her sister, Hannelore (Harold) Ebke. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Missie (Howard) Bonser; Julie (John) Osteig; Phillip (Traci) Dorth; Kirk (Donna) Ebke; Grant Ebke, and their families, as well as numerous cousins in Chicago, Canada, and Germany. Funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 803 Third Avenue, Longmont on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation following the service with interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church.
