Anne Barber Hallock, age 91, born on December 26th, 1930, died peacefully as the sun rose on September 30th, 2022 in Longmont, Colorado. She was surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at a later date.
Anne grew up in Ripon, Wisconsin and graduated with a BA in Chemistry from Ripon College. She married Richard G. Hallock, and together they served 30 years in the United States military. During her service, she hosted countless diplomatic and professional engagements. She moved 55 times over the course of their marriage and military service. Anne also worked in an academic lab, as a teacher, an educational aide in a school for deaf children (she was fluent in American Sign Language), and in an art gallery. She raised three children, David, Jane, and Sarah. She also raised countless cats and dogs.
After Richard was appointed Professor of Military Science at the University of Southern Colorado, they moved to Pueblo West, Colorado. They remained there after their military service and provided a warm place for their beloved family to visit. They were a stalwart provider of ‘ice cream for lunch’ and all manner of other grandparent duties. Anne was an Elder in the Pueblo West Ecumenical Church, where she also served as a founding member of the both the church and of the Gardening Angels. The Church Garden continues to serve as a place of solace and comfort for the church and surrounding community.
Perhaps her greatest accomplishment of all is that she was utterly beloved by all those who knew her - animals and people alike. She had an unwavering sense of kindness, duty, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther Darrow Barber and William Harley Barber, and her daughter Jane Hallock Baillargeon. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard G. Hallock, her children, David Darrow Hallock and Sarah Hallock Adderholt. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Emerson, her grandchildren Jennifer Baillargeon-Hauck, Kathryn Baillargeon Bechtel, Hannah Hallock Ruffridge, Darrow Adderholt, and Hudson Adderholt, as well as her 4 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Pueblo West Ecumenical or any cause you feel represents her warm and giving spirit.
