Alice J. Vera

Alice J. Vera, 85, formerly of Mesilla Park, NM, passed away October 14, 2014 in Lakewood, CO. Alice was born on November 21, 1928 to Francisco Flores and Cruz de la Torre in Scottsbluff, NE.After graduating from Bayard High School, Alice attended Beauty School and was a beautician until going to work for the Civil Service in Sidney, NE from 1950-1955. Alice married Henry Vera on November 22, 1948 in Bayard, NE. They later moved to Las Cruces, NM where she worked at White Sands Missile Range, retiring in the early 1970's.Alice loved attending mass at The Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Tortugas, NM. She was a member of the Toast Master's Club of Las Cruces, NM.Alice loved caregiving for the elderly and since she was born and raised in Nebraska, she was forever a diehard Cornhusker Fan!Alice is preceded in death by her parents.Alice is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry Vera, Sr. of Northglenn, CO, sons Henry Vera, Jr. (Arlene) of Northglenn and Ramōn Vera (Christine) of Denver, brother Louis Flores, sisters Eloise Vera and Natalie Vera, grandchildren Eric Vera (Margaret), Jeffrey Vera (Emily) and Antonia Vera and great-grandchildren Pearl, Alexander, Andrew and Adalynn Vera.A rosary will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 24, 2014 at Immaculate Heart Church, 11385 Grant Dr., Northglenn, CO followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am.
