Alex Diefenderfer

Alex Diefenderfer, 64, a long-time resident of Dacono, CO, died unexpectedly on July 26 in a motorcycle accident. Born in Chicago, IL, he was initially raised in Geneva, IL. In 1961, he moved with his family to Ph nix, AZ, and later graduated high school from Allen Military Academy in Bryan, TX.Like his father and brother, Alex joined the Navy. He served from 1969-1971, with his last assignment on the carrier USS Ticonderoga.Alex recently retired from Coors Brewery in Golden, CO after 30+ years. During his time at Coors he held many different positions and received many commendations. He was also a longtime friend of Bill W (26+ years) and made many friends as well as helped many others along the way. He was happily enjoying his retirement, spending time with his friends, and planning to take trips around the country in his camper at the time of his death.Alex is predeceased by his parents, George and Suzette Diefenderfer of Ph nix, AZ, and his sister, Jean Stapleton, of Evergreen Park, IL. He is survived by his daughters, Layla Diefenderfer (Superior, CO) and Carissa Augustad (Longmont, CO), and granddaughter, Kiya Augustad, as well as his siblings, George Diefenderfer (Dayton, OH), Gretchen Diefenderfer (Gold Hill, CO), Sally Lowery (Lafayette, CA), and Lesley Birch (Santa Clara, CA).In 2013, he drove to Dayton to celebrate his brother George's 90th birthday party with the family, including many nieces and a nephew from Chicago. Alex loved his dog, a pug named Sir Matthew, who is now living with his oldest daughter Layla. The family will spread his ashes in the mountains.
