He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years in Japan as Air Police Squadron. He was proud to serve his country.
Al married his lifelong partner Joan Haines on May 5, 1962, raising 3 sons together. In 1970 Joan and Al moved to Longmont, Colorado from New York, New York.
Prior to moving to Longmont, he worked on computers for the Stock Exchange. After moving he worked for Coors for several years then he began his career at the cement plant in Lyons, Colorado where he worked his way up to the Storeroom Supervisor for 30 years, later retiring.
During his free time, Al enjoyed wood carving along with learning to play the banjo. He enjoyed tending to his cactus as well as showing his boys target and sport shooting. He extended his teachings to his grandchildren. Al also had a passion for the outdoors, camping, sail boating or going fishing on his motorboat as well as geo-caching.
Al is preceded in death by his life partner Joan Clark, his son Gary Clark, his parents Joseph Clark and Emily Clark, his grandson Ryan Clark.
He is survived by his sons Kevin Clark and Scott Clark, as well as his grandson Derek Clark and his great-grandchildren Ellie, Teagen and Capriese. Other relatives include his daughters-in-law Kay Clark and Karri Clark.
A celebration of life for Al will be held Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. There will be a reception following the celebration of life at 11:00 AM, 1312 Ashcroft Drive, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
