Pete Carlos Madrid passed away at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Long Beach, California at the age of 69. Pete was predeceased by his parents, Miguel and Sophia Madrid; brother George; sister, Priscilla; and grandparents: Alfonso and Virginia Sanchez.
Pete was born in Colfax, New Mexico and raised in Springer, New Mexico. He waas one of 18 children. He graduated from Springer High School and attended University of New Mexico. Pete was a great guitar and saxophone player. In his early years he formed his band called, "the Tear Drops." He also played in the band here in Long Beach with his cousins. He worked at Douglas Aircraft and then worked in the oil business since 1969. He retired in February 2007.
Pete's love and memories will be forever in the lives of his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Cecilia, of 47 years, daughters, son-in-laws, and grandsons: Theresa, Michael, and Austin Burns, Tina, Paul, and Isaac Foster; brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws:
Orlando and Corine, Juan and Louella, Mike and Sandy, Lucille and Vicente Vigil, Jimmy , David, Martha and Alfonso Montoya, Margaret and Joe Montoya, Josephine and Tom Sanchez, Eddie, Gerald and Kathy, Leo and Mary, Lillian Apodaca, Benny and Joann, Georganna and Jeff Rose, Peter and Sandy Ulloa, David and Juanita Ulloa, Richard Ulloa, and Tony and Bertha Ulloa. He was also survived by many, many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pete was not only a parent, grandparent, brother and brother-in-law, but was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He was a good friend to many and known for his patience, kindness and generosity.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 5500 East Wardlow Rd., Long Beach, California
