Justine B. Dugan passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2013 in Los Alamitos, California. Justine was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Lois and Charles “Crit” Bottom. She moved to Compton, California when she was 1 year old and then moved to Hemet, California where she attended elementary through high school and graduated in the class of 1945. She was very athletic and in high school received the “outstanding athlete” award. She participated on her high school Field Hockey and Softball Teams and also enjoyed tennis, volleyball and swimming.
Prior to moving to Leisure World in Seal Beach, California Justine was a long-time resident of San Jacinto, California. In her early years she worked during World War II at Camp Haan on March Air Force Base in the Discharge Center. She also worked as an Operator for the Telephone Company and in 1955 she became the City Clerk for the City of San Jacinto. She later became Parent Coordinator for the San Jacinto Unified School District where she worked for 25 years. Justine also volunteered her time in support of the Ramona Outdoor Pageant where she supervised and coordinated the “Children of the Rancho” team of actors for 10 years. Upon retirement from the School District she assisted her husband as a Curator for the San Jacinto Municipal Museum.
While living in Leisure World Justine was active in volunteer service with various organizations such as the First Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Impaired Vision and Hearing Club, Meals on Wheels, and the Leisure World Medical Center. As in her earlier years she was very active in sports such as shuffleboard and golf, and loved to play bridge.
Justine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years Bill. She is survived by her daughter Teri Dugan of Long Beach, CA and son Brad Dugan of Signal Hill, CA.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at the First Christian Church in Leisure World on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:45am following their regular church service. A committal service of her ashes will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to the First Christian Church or the American Legion Auxiliary both in Leisure World, Seal Beach.

Directions: The main entrance to Leisure World is just south of the 405 freeway on Seal Beach Blvd. Enter Leisure World at the main entrance. You will need to stop and give the security booth either your name or inform them you are attending the memorial for Justine Dugan at the First Christian Church. Once you enter the main gate, make an immediate right turn onto Del Monte Drive. Follow the road for a period of time. The road curves to the left as you drive north and closer to the 405 freeway. Continue until you see a large 2 story Verizon building on your left side. The church entrance is through a parking lot just before the Verizon building. The church backs up to the frontage road of the 405. Park either on the street
