Jane Shay Hirata

Jane Hirata, 89, of Seal Beach passed away and joined her husband Manuel on Monday, November 24th, 2014. She was born in Hyde Park, Pennsylvania on August 18th, 1925, the second daughter of Samuel and Lucille Shay. After graduating from Leechburg High School she followed her older sister, Audrey, to California. Jane’s cousin Bill introduced her to Manuel in Bell, CA and after many years of dating they finally were married, a union that was always meant to be. They shared fifty-seven wonderful years of marriage together. Jane was completely devoted to her family. Moving twice in five years to further Manuel’s career and always supporting her three children was something of an adventure that she enjoyed. Meeting new people, making new friends, and helping the community in every way she could was what Jane loved. She spent many years as a discussion group leader helping people with caring and coping regarding death and dying. She also worked with under privileged children, and the Cancer Support Foundation. She was always involved in her church and community service. She did the best she could to serve the Lord with all her heart. Jane is forever grateful to her many family members and friends for all the love they gave her. Her children who will be missing her are Pam, David and Mark. Her service will be on Monday, Dec. 15th, 2014 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church of Seal Beach 148 10th Street, Seal Beach, CA 90740.
