Emily married Arturo H. Palomares in 1948 and was a homemaker for her entire married life. A devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandma and great grandma, she was always there for us kids while we were growing up. She was always “practical” and loved sewing clothes for her daughters. If we wanted to buy clothes, she would always say, “you can make that!” Or if we were ahead of ourselves, she would say, “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch!” She was from the WWII era, as a young teenager, which explains her living a very practical life.
Emily was a very religious Catholic and helped out in Religious Education for over 20 years at St. Albert the Great Church in Compton. She also helped out in the Church kitchen throughout the years. She always reminded us kids to be good practicing Catholics since she felt it her duty as a good Christian. She was very devoted to Our Lord and prayed the Rosary every night. She always said what was on her mind, was very outspoken and true to herself.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo H. Palomares, mother, Jessie Cabrera Medina, her father, Mariano Baldonado Medina, her older brother Andy Medina, older sister Florence (Fidel) Lopez, and younger brother, also named Andy Medina.
