Made sure to stay away fr. Mom when I caught the flu Grandma...we were always so careful to keep you healthy & not give you our germies.  I can still remember you with your disinfectant wipes lol.  I miss you grandma

I was telling Sean the other day I never can recall you, grandma ever not being supportive of me & anything I'd want to do. You always listened with a sweet smile on your face and then would end what I'd been telling you with encouragement.  So as Sean heads out on his journey of life I hope to be that encourager & believer you always were of me Grandma. Miss you today, miss you always.

Went with mom, Cathy & Sean to take you and Grandpa pretty flowers to decorate your graves....I miss you so much today & always. You know I was telling mom & Cathy that I'd like to think that by now Rose found you & Grandpa in heaven cause she'd heard me talk about you guys sooo much and just had to meet you both. And then you guys sat around as she went on to tell you my stories and also about how much I adored, respected, looked up to, wanted to be like......love & miss you Grandma.

Today would've been my grandmas birthday. It was nice to take mom & spend some time honoring grandma at her gravesite. We took pretty flowers from moms garden & left a spinning wheel there too.  You would've laughed at me & mom grandma cause when we first got there the sprinklers were on. We left to buy you more flowers & they were still on. So we left again to buy a quick lunch to eat there at yours & grandpas gravesite & when we came back they were still on lol. Mom then waved a man down & he turned them off for us. It was nice to sit there and play your favorite song...Maria Elena. Mom cried a little & I will always miss you soooo much

In a few short months it will be two years since I saw your beautiful face. I was so blessed to have you in my life at the age of 53 with mom being 80 and having you here with her too. You lived 97 wonderful years on this earth & now you are dancing with grandpa on "New" legs.... what a sight to behold... I miss you so much grandma... I'll miss you always!!!

Next week is going to be Valentines Day & I recently found the heart blanket I bought for you a few years back. I also found the teddy bear too. So I'll use your blanky to warm me & remember all the love you always showed me. No matter what you were always there for me. Loving my memories of you grandma.

Getting ready to go to the Inauguration of our 45th President. I know you'd be so excited for me to go see what that's all about...to be a part of history. We were always able to talk about any & everything...  I wish you were here so I could share with you my pictures

Grandma:  Tonight is Christmas Eve......I can still remember when I was young & we'd go to see you and grandpa and celebrate Christmas together. So as tonight descends, I'll reminisce on those long ago years fondly.  And I also will think of how amazing it is for the two of you to be in the presence of our Savior Jesus..Gods ultimate gift to us all.

Boy Grandma you would be so proud of us...me, mom & Cathy made your Tamales Saturday. Followed your recipe to the "T" & stayed up till midnight cooking them but they tasted great!!!  Doug & I made more yesterday & I'm sure they'll be good too. Sean said they were almost as good as yours :)  Next is to try making your yummy potato salad. I'll try that this Easter!!!

Going this w/end with Mom & Cathy to pay tribute to you and grandpa by decorating your gravesite. I know we only did it a few times with you when we decorated grandpas grave...it was just too hard for you to go there...but I remember how you said you wanted it to look pretty with tinsel & poinsettias so we'll decorate pretty for both of you...

I wonder what we would've talked about in regards to today being Election Day.  My goodness when you were born women weren't even allowed to vote and now a women is running for President lol. I'm thankful and so blessed that right to the end I was able to have conversations with you.  I miss you grandma... God Bless America!!!

We went to honor you & grandpa on Sunday.  We took flowers fr. Moms garden & made your grave look pretty. I sit here surrounded by pictures of you & all our memories flow through me... And I cry cause I miss you so.

I can understand with my brain that we all will die one day but our hearts don't understand that. They don't mend quickly. The hole in our lives can't be filled with mindless chatter or routines.  The memories weigh heavy with love & fondness....and sadness still because of the pain of the loss.  Yes you lived 97 years & maybe that's why it hurts more... You were always there.  
You are still close to my thoughts grandma with longing for the day I reunite with you.

Grandma:

I year ago today you went home to heaven.....I know one day I will be with you & grandpa again and together we will walk the golden streets. Until that day I will forever miss you...

And so our grandpa wrote down the words to "Maria Elena:.  It became their song.... a song she cherished all her life.

Today is your birthday grandma & I will never forget you. I still can't believe that you're not here to go and visit on our Sunday's. I know you & grandpa will be celebrating together so have a yummy piece of your favorite cake. As for me, mom & Cathy....we'll go to your grave to honor you & bring you beautiful flowers....

We got your old mailbox the other day fr. the people who now live in your house...her name is Christina:) 
I just hung it by pictures of you & grandpa.  People laugh at me when they see all your collections around my house. But you know what I tell them...a museum is filled with "treasures" of what someone deemed invaluable.  And that's how I view all my treasures of things that once filled your home.....Treasures to remind me of you grandma!!!

I miss you more each day. People say it gets better but they're wrong....

read fr. Eulogy 6/7/15...what seems like just days ago.. May 17th to be exact, my sister Cathy & I were on our weekly Sunday visit. My brother Gilbert had a rare day off so he was there too. Grandma looked out her slider door & noticed the big horse that lives next door walking around & said she "wanted to go outside".... I remember her laughing out loud with the thump they made on their way outside the doorstep.  Gilbert put his sunglasses on grandma & that is the last picture we have of her taken at 5:51 pm.  Cool grandma outside for a few short minutes in her "buggy" enjoying the horse, sunshine & swallows flying all around... I miss you so much grandma

......so when I whispered In Grandmas ear the night of June 7th, to "not be afraid".  That she would "instantaneously be in the presence of God" & grandpa. That she was going to dance with him on new legs .....I knew with certainty this to be true. I told her that she'd been the best grandma ever & that I'd miss her terribly but that I'd see her again one day.

Sept. 8th/ 3 long months since you've been gone... Seems like just y'day that I was dancing & singing in your room to "Shake It Off" and you were laughing at me. I Miss you Grandma

August 8th....It's been two months.... "I can only imagine what it will be like when I walk by your side" ... along with Jesus. You are never far from my thoughts grandma. I miss you so much that sometimes it's unbearable. ...We took mom today to leave you & grandpa pretty flowers.  Until I see you again.

My Dearest Grandmother...We miss you so much but find comfort in knowing that you are in heaven & now with grandpa. We will forever hold all that we shared close to our hearts. You were a wonderful Grandmother; loving, kind, caring, comforting, humorous, etc. Thank you for all the memories. Love you lots, Cathy & Tony

It's been 3 weeks since I last saw you & I miss you so much grandma. I look at my iPhone videos & pictures of you each & everyday. I love you so much grandma & can't imagine my life without you in it. I know you are no longer in pain but I'm selfish and wish you were here with me so I could go see you & hear your voice.

Our prayers are with you and your families.  She lived a wonderful life and impacted many with her kindness and thoughtfulness.  We have wonderful memories of her and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.  With love, from Eddie and Jessie Martinez
