Charles Harmon (89) of Long Beach went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Harmon; daughter, Karol Brown (Bruce) of Arroyo Grande; son, Doug of Huntington Beach; daughter, Gloria Estes (Pat) of Lakewood; and 6 grandchildren, Holly and Kris Harmon, Harmony, Patrick, Kaitlynn and Tyler Estes. Charles was a hardworking, dedicated, loyal husband, father and grandfather. Charles served as an Army Air Corp pilot and trainer during WWII and continued flying as a pilot in the Air Force Reserve for 27 years, retiring as colonel. He then joined the Long Beach Police Department in 1955, serving 27 years and retiring in 1981 as a lieutenant. Viewing will be held Thursday, February 7 at the Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Rd., from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held at Bethany Church, 2250 Clark Ave., Long Beach on Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow the service at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.
