Carol Marie A. Sukow

Carol Marie passed away December 21, 2010 in Murrieta, CA at the age of 76. She was born April 18, 1934 to Carl Engolf Johnson and Helma Marie Hanson in Steele County, MN. She attended Owatonna High School, Owatonna, MN. Carol Marie married Vern O. Sukow on October 17, 1954 in Steele County, MN at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church.

She was a long time resident of Long Beach, CA (35+) years where she and Vern raised 2 children. Carol Marie is survived by daughter, Karla A. Truxton (Tom) of Portland, OR; son, Karl F. Sukow (Jeannie) of Murrieta, CA; sisters, Loretta Anderson of IL, Elaine Halla, Eunice Colmer and Doris Wood of MN; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Vern O. Sukow; brother, Burnett Johnson; sisters, Muriel Grubisch and Alvina Christenson of MN.

She retired from Star-Kist Foods of San Pedro, CA after 25 years.

Carol Marie was an avid reader, enjoyed baking and her long walks around the neighborhood. But she most enjoyed her work with the Alter Guild and volunteering where ever needed for The Resurrection Lutheran Church in Long Beach, CA where she had been a member for over 35 years.

A visitation is scheduled for 4pm to 6pm, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Mortuary 5161 East Arbor Road, Long Beach, CA 90808. Graveside services are scheduled for 10am at Forest Lawn 4471 Lincoln Avenue, Cypress, CA 90630 followed by Memorial service and reception at 11am at The Resurrection Lutheran Church 1900 East Carson Street, Long Beach, CA 90807.
