Brenda Carol Stewart was born on March 9, 1957 to the union of Joseph Julian and Rachel Louise Stewart. The greater part of her life was lived out in Los Angeles where she attended and completed elementary, junior high, and senior high school. She was baptized at Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church in Watts. She continued her education at Universal College of Beauty and received a certificate of completion. She attended El Camino Community College and she was also in the army out of state for a brief period. She held various positions over the years, but she truly loved working with children at local Child Care Centers.
Her immediate family of three consisted of her daughter Danielle, who died at 2 years of age, her son Brian and her youngest daughter Megan. She was very protective of her precious children. She loved being a mother and dearly cherished caring for them. She was affectionately known as Auntie B by all her nieces, nephews and the grands too.
She had a passionate talent for crafting and creating keepsakes. She was an expert seamstress and loved to knit, crochet, and embroidery. She didn't need directions or patterns to craft her masterpieces to perfection. Every time a new member of the family was born, their parents were presented with an original work of art, handcrafted by her especially for their baby. All those blankets, shawls, hats, scarves, jackets, booties, and house shoes will be cherished by every one of us.
She was an avid reader and a life learner. She enjoyed researching and learning about new things she read about, overheard in a conversation, or saw on television. She lived her final years in Long Beach, she loved being near the ocean. She was known by everyone for her kind, compassionate spirit, and her uplifting attitude. When giving advice, she made it her business to always try to get everyone to laugh and let their troubles go.
On Sunday July 21, 2019 Brenda, a beautiful and loving soul, passed away at the age of 62. She has departed this earthly life as we know it, but her spirit lives on even more vibrantly in all the lives that she touched. She was preceded in death by her daughter Danielle, her father, Joseph, her sisters, Nathalie and Lisa, and her niece Shawntel. She is survived by her mother, Rachel, her children, Brian and Megan, her granddaughter Amiah, her sisters, Debra, Yvette, Cherylyn, Tae, Gladys, Tracey, and Shelly, her brother, Tony, her brother-in-law, Gabriel, her nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.
