Ruth was born in Prince Edward Island, she had 5 sisters. At the age of 35 she moved to Ontario. But, she remained a proud islander, which was evident in her license plate, “XSPUD”. She was able to accomplish a great deal in her life, (and instilled that drive in her 4 children) because she would never take “no” for an answer. Ruth proved at a young age that she could solve any problem. She carried this positive attitude throughout her life, achieving goals that at some point may have seemed unmanageable for a single mom of 4 children. She never gave up! Ruth loved to travel, visiting the Caribbean, Greece, Egypt, all the Canadian provinces and many parts of the USA, and she enjoyed her retirement winters in Florida with her sisters. Ruth loved her family and would do anything for them. If there was a room to paint, an appointment to attend, a problem to fix, a hospital visit to be made, she was always there for them. No problem or task was ever too big for her. In fact, she often had to be reminded that she was not as young as she felt she was inside.
A special thanks to the staff at Kingsway Lodge in St. Marys for the wonderful care and compassion they provided over the past 3 years. In addition, the support from the Alzheimer’s Society was so much appreciated by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Beaty Room, located at 165 Dundas Street, Thamesford, Ontario. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to honor Ruth life.
