HANDFORD; Mervin Campell – Passed peacefully at Parkwood Hospital on February 19, 2014 he was in his 89th year. Mervin was born June 27, 1925 to the late Garnet and Ellen(Tullis) Handford . Merv is also predeceased by his daughter Deborah Smith, one sister Marion Jackson and four brothers John, Bill, Gilbert and twin brother Melvin. Dear father of Marilyn(Wayne) Huber of Port Bruce, Darryl(Barb) Handford of London, Gerald(Laurie) Handford and Brenda(Don) Thistle of St. Thomas, Lorraine(Tony) Pileggi of London and their mother Beatrice Handford. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by one sister Eunice Moore of Ingersoll and one brother Reginald (Lorraine) Handford of Calgary, Alberta and several nieces and nephews especially Eileen Jackson and Shirley Jackson-Zanolini and her husband Joe. Merv will be especially missed by his dear friend Eula Simpson. Mervin served his country in WWll in the Army with Regina Rifles Regiment joining in 1943. He landed on Juno Beach on D-day at the age of 18. Mervin also served in the Liberation of Holland. After the war he served as Peacekeeper in Germany. He returned to civilian life in 1946 becoming a transport truck driver. We wish to extend a special thank you to Reverend Darryll Shaule, the doctors, nurses and staff of 4BW (Parkwood Hospital) for their kind and compassionate care of Mervin in the past months. The Funeral Service for Mervin will be held at Needham Funeral Service, 520 Dundas St., London on Saturday February 22nd, 2014 in the chapel at 10am with visitation on Friday February 21st, 2014 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Interment in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice is appreciated.
