McCAW, Leo – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Leo McCaw, in his 88th year, on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at McCormick Home, London. Beloved husband of Bessie McCaw. Loving father to Jean (Ralph) Mills, Dave Jaques, Bill McCaw and Angie (Dennis) Jewlal. Cherished grandpa of Patty and Greg (Lisa) Mills, Melissa, Lorna and Amy Jaques (Kevin Bere), Elizabeth and Andrew Jewlal. Great-grandpa to Jonathan, Katie, Saige, Maddie and Georgia Jaques, Ben and Maddie Mills, and Lilly Bere. Predeceased by his son, Don Jaques, siblings, Sr. Angela and Paul McCaw and parents, George and Monica (Helferty) McCaw. Also missed by sister-in-law, Jean Brown and many nieces and nephews. Leo was born on a farm in Picton, ON. In his youth, he was actively involved in the reserve forces where he was promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major for the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery -7th Field Regiment based at the London, ON Armoury. Leo was a proud millwright who worked at 3M Canada for 42 years. He was a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Duchess of Kent Legion. After retiring, he and Bess generously entertained family and friends at their home in North Ft. Myers Florida. Over the years, he courageously soldiered on through many illnesses. In the end, he reassured family that he had enjoyed a wonderful life and was ready to go. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff and friends at McCormick Home and LHSC for their years of kindness and compassion. Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 and 12-1 pm Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Needham Funeral Home, 520 Dundas Street London, ON. A service will be held immediately following visitation at 1 pm on Wednesday. Internment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo’s memory can be made to LHSC Cardiac Fitness Institute or the London Regional Cancer Program.
