It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Isobel Cake (Innes) on Friday March 15, 2024, in her 98th year, at University Hospital, London. Elsie died peacefully with her daughters at her side. Predeceased by her husband Clayton Cake (1985).
She is survived by her loving daughters Linda Newman (Doug) and Diane Burridge (Rick deceased 2019). Cherished granny of Rick Burridge (Dawn deceased 2023), Jody Rodney ( Bryon deceased 2021), Jason Burridge(Katherine), Shauna Dwyer Vance (Ron Salton). Great Granny to Chloe, Meghan, Bryce,Jayden, Isaiah, Nathan, Lauren and Blake.
Elsie’s joy came through her love for her family. Elsie was an inspiration to all of us.
Elsie was born and raised in Embro on the family farm. She was predeceased by parents Fanny (McKay) and Murray Innes. She was one of 10 children and the last surviving one.
Predeceased by her brothers Lawrence, Howard (Betty), Douglas (Violet), Danny (Clara) Bruce. Predeceased by sisters Margaret (Donald), Ruth (Ross), Helen (Russell) and Dorothy (Harold). Survived by sister-in-law Margaret Innes of Woodstock, also aunt to several loved nieces and nephews.
Elsie worked in her early years in the farming community. After taking up residence in London she started working at Kellogg’s in 1957. Working on the packing line and later in a supervisory position. Elsie put in 32 year at Kellogg’s where she was a dedicated and respected employee making many life time friendships.
Taking care of family always was her primary joy in life. She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening , she would try to do it all. Mom always kept a list of everyone’s birthday, friends, family, coworkers, picking up the phone or sending a card wishing them best wishes on their special day.
Elsie was one of a kind. She was always there for her family in good times and bad, supportive in any way she could. We thank her for all the treasured memories of our lives together, and we have truly been blessed to have had so many good years with her. She will always be in our hearts forever.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation for family and friends will take place on April 13, 2024 at Needham’s Funeral at 520 Dundas Street London. Visitation will be from 11-12 at which time a short service will be held . A memorial gathering will be held following the service to Celebrate the life of Elise Cake.
