On Tuesday September 29th in the presence of her loving family, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother began her journey home, there to be with the love of her life Gerald (Spike) who passed away in 1997. Betty leaves behind her children; Gary (Jill), Gerald (Gloria), William, Michael (Connie), Charlene Bell (Tom) and Paul (Christine).As well as grandchildren; Cherie Kertland (Scott), Sean (Michelle), Melissa, Nathan (Coty), Jeremy, Melinda, Shea Howard (Aron), Cali Howard (Karl), Asha Howard, Brianne Bell, Brent Bell (Kristina), Daniel, Matthew and Nicholas. Great Grandchildren; Connor, Reese, Ripley, Corbyn, Tyler, Nathan, Emma, Ethan, Oliver, Michael, Katey, Cody and Brinn. Predeceased by granddaughter Emily. She also leaves her sisters in law Doreen Schussler (Pete) and Norine Murphy as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was the heart of our family, she was our mentor, our cheerleader, our confidant. She was the glue that bound us together. She was born on August 25th, 1924 and married Dad on September 4th, 1944 while he was on a short leave from the Air Force. A convert to Catholicism, she lived her life with devotion and deep faith. She raised her six children and then began her second career at age 45 at the Eaton's warehouse on Commissioners Road. She retired at age 65 as did Dad and they spent the next nearly 8 years traveling and enjoying just being with each other and their family. Visitation will take place at Needham Funeral Service (520 Dundas St.) on Thursday, October 1st, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow on Friday, October 2nd at St. George Catholic Church (1164 Commissioners Rd. W.) at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations directed to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
