Bill is survived by his three sons Justin, Patrick, and Lucas; his parents William J. McCarley II and Susan (Rowan) McCarley; brother Timothy McCarley (Erin), sister Colleen Baisch (Rich) and six nieces and nephews.
He was a softball player, coach, and organizer with the St. Colette softball organization.
He attended Ball State University in Muncie, IN where he received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Landscape Architecture. He was accorded a special honor as the guest speaker at his Master graduation. Returning home to Livonia, he got his dream job working for the City of Detroit as Landscape Architect/Project Manager. He has been working on the Joe Louis Greenway biking/walking trail around downtown Detroit.
Among his many achievements include BSA Eagle Scout with 6 Palms, Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Order of the Arrow, District Award of Merit during his 40 years in Scouting – as a Scout and Scouter with Troop #782 and Troop #406 in Milwaukee. He participated is numerous BSA High Adventures including 5 treks to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, as a Scout and an adult Crew Leader.
A memorial gathering for William will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
at Harry J. Will Funeral Homes, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Following the memorial
gathering there will be a memorial mass at 11:30 AM at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 48152.
