Steven Michael Keller, loving son, devoted partner, and cherished brother, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by family in Livonia, Michigan, at the age of forty-one on October 29, 2020. Survived by his mother, Mary Ellen, his partner Paul Kolc, his sister Amy, his brother-in-law Jeremiah Posedel, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles, “Steve” lived a full life filled with joy and infectious laughter.
A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Steve enjoyed work in customer service, most recently employed as a front-line grocery store worker at Kroger during the coronavirus pandemic. He was a dedicated employee, who also enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Although Steve was shy and reserved, he was also a natural entertainer, and those who knew him particularly well were privy to his goofy side. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and, although the virus made it difficult to spend time with them, still managed to share a joke or a friendly “hello.” Steve and Paul enjoyed hosting small gatherings at their home and, although Paul was more of an avid chef, both Mary Ellen and Amy still claim that Steve’s cinnamon rolls were the best ever created.
Growing up, Steve and his family spent every Saturday morning at Merri-Bowl Lanes in Livonia, learning how to pick up spares instead of sleeping in or watching cartoons. Steve learned how to bowl from his father Kenneth, who predeceased him earlier this year. When he was much younger, Steve used to boldly claim that the sound of thunder was caused by “angels bowling in heaven.” Here’s hoping that he’s right, and that he and Ken are enjoying the lanes together again.
The family invites you to celebrate Steve’s life during a viewing at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Livonia, Michigan, on Monday, November 2, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather at Harry J. Will for funeral services on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.
