Stanley John Pierson, 90, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, under the compassionate care of Angela Hospice. He was born on August 23, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, and was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve and father Henry, his beloved wife Kathy, and his son Gregory.
Stanley was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, leaving behind his loving son Mark (Mary) Pierson and cherished grandchildren, Jack and Alaina Pierson. He is also survived by his dear brother Gary (Sharon) Szczepanski, his sister Sharon (Patrick) Ambroziak, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him fondly.
Stanley was drafted into the United States Army at a young age and served his country for two years. After his time in service, he became a successful businessman, owning several bar and restaurant establishments over the years. He and Kathy co-owned an ice cream shop, building a legacy that served as a place for both family and the community to gather.
Stan was a longtime parishioner of St. Colette Catholic Church in Livonia, where he was a faithful member and active participant. His love for life extended beyond business, with a deep passion for travel. For 23 years, he and Kathy enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, where they built lasting friendships and enjoyed a close-knit community.
Golf was another great love of Stan’s life. He was an avid golfer, proud of his skills, and even achieved four memorable hole-in-ones during his lifetime.
Stanley was competitive, headstrong, and strong-willed, but very loyal to those that understood his demeanor. He will be deeply missed by family & friends.
A visitation for Stan will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 4-8pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home. Funeral service, Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11am (in state 10:30am) also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Angela Hospice or American Cancer Society in his honor.
