Shirley Anne Wolfe, age 69, of Northville MI, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away quietly on September 27th at her home, surrounded by family and friends. Her passing was due to complications stemming from a progressive form of multiple sclerosis (MS) for which she was diagnosed in 2010.
Shirley Anne, born August 27th 1945, the elder sister to Margo Simonian (Richard) born to Anton (Tony) and Margaret Hagel in Windsor, Ontario. Shirley became naturalized U.S. Citizen in 2004.
A registered nurse, Shirley graduated from Bentley High School (class of '63) and then from the Grace Hospital School of Nursing in 1966 and was fortunate enough to work alongside her closest classmates throughout her career, including Maxine Gurgold and Pat Hannigan until her retirement in January of 2011. Shirley also attended Madonna University and studied under the BSN curriculum.
A devoted wife and mother, Shirley married in 1966 just after graduating from nursing school to Harry L. Wolfe, a realtor in Livonia, and eventually settled in Northville where they raised two sons, Scott and Dana. Shirley lead an active, quality life enjoying spending time with Harry and family vacationing in northern Michigan, Mexico, Las Vegas and taking the occasional Caribbean cruise with close friends. Amongst her many passions, Shirley was known for her impeccable taste and fashion sense, love of friends and family, and a devotion to her grandchildren. Shirley was also widely known for her tremendous culinary talent, which was enjoyed by friends and family on hunting trips, vacations and holidays - many of which often lead to traditions that will carry forward for generations. More recently, Shirley, Harry and family enjoyed spending time year-round at their Northern Michigan log cabin on Higgins Lake they purchased in 1996. A devout Catholic, Shirley was also a lifelong parishioner of St. Collette Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, the late Anton (Tony) Hagel (d1987) and father in-law Harry E. Wolfe (d.1985).
Shirley is survived by Harry, her devoted husband of almost 50 years, sons Scott and Dana and their spouses, Jenni and Nikki and four grandchildren, Brandon (21), Nicholas (16), Kennedy (11) and Ryan (8). She is also survived by her loving mother, Margaret Hagel and Mother-in-Law Virginia Wolfe.
For those who would like to make donations in lieu of floral arrangements, her family has asked that donations be made in Shirley's name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter to support ongoing research for cures and treatment of MS.
